It is really nice when there are services available for you 24/7. It is especially nice when you have an answering service that you can always reach. It is so nice to be able to talk to a real person when you are in need of help. It is really comforting to not have to worry about being able to get a hold of someone. I am really grateful that there are 24/7 companies out there.

Cleaning patio furniture can definitely be annoying. It's always nice to have everything look so clean, though. My wife and I have cleaned our patio furniture regularly for years. Unfortunately they're starting to wear down because of how old they are. We need to get some new furniture, but we have a pretty low budget. These definitely seem like pretty solid reasons for a small business to hire an answering service. My aunt has been running a small business out of her home for a little while now, and she's always getting swamped with calls. It'd be nice if she could have a service take those calls for her and just let her know anything important that comes up. It'd definitely give her more time to focus on the work that needs to be done.

When it comes to things like patio furniture, I expect it to clean itself like a cat. I guess that I'm just lazy when it comes to cleaning. I also don't know how to go about cleaning patio furniture. I should start dusting my patio right away.

My patio furniture is thin metal chairs and grated table. I just assumed that these items would be weather proof. The chairs are starting to rust after having sat in rain storms several different times.

We tackled a home decluttering project - I know lame but we just never seem to have time for that stuff. We made it fun, doing it together as a family, going through memory lane as we weeded through all boxes of toys, clothes and pictures. For dinner, we ordered in pizza, at on paper plates. IT is a great way to spend a rainy (or as it is with our New England weather snowy) day!

Frannie, I love this column. As both a sibling and a parent of siblings, you've shared some insights that are wise beyond your years! As you know, we just spent time visiting with a few of my siblings. Aside from my husband, sons and parents, my siblings are truly my best friends in the world. It's amazing how we, as "grown ups", have learned to relate to one another. Even though I am the eldest, they never stop teaching me new life lessons. Thanks for raising an important topic!

I "grew up" on Palm and Handspring PDAs, so I got use to lists and notes I. That environment. This also corresponded to my second go round with grad school, do the two fit well together. Things have changed. I last used tech assisted lists intensively for baby feedings.
I tend to use notes or reminders in iPhone when I don't have paper and pen. I use to religiously use moleskin pocket notebooks...but now that Borders is dead, they aren't as easy or fun to resupply.
So in short, I typically grab for a pen and a post-it-note if I can. I have my wife text me a grocery list if it's more than 5 items I can rattle off by memory, or are located near each other in the store. And she usually has to text me her Sbux order because I never want to commit that way of talking to memory...

I AM a list maker. Every day there's a list. In the past I made a list for shopping, to ensure I would get what I actually set out for, with a symbol for coupon items and another for buy one, get one free items. I then started making lists of some things to do over the course of the day which lead to a full day list. I'm a busy mom of 6, all under the age of 12, we homeschool, and have special needs in the mix. I honestly would forget to drink during the day bc I was just going task to task, changing a diaper, dosing out med., moving onto a lesson. Some are obvious but I add on those normal to do's, like drinking, bc I will actually do some of those take-care-of-mom tasks I would often push off, plus it feels good to see things checked off. That may be a crazy way of doing things but it works. I have a saved list on the computer w/ boxes at the beginning of the line where I can easily change the minor things for the day, press print, and out comes a nice, neat list waiting for me to jump in :)

Did you read Tom McDonald's piece on this robot (in Patheos today)? There might be some creepy intel issues with this device. (And I'm with you. If it doesn't clean toilets, what good is it?)

Maybe this should be something I look into - how to intentionally move my better pictures up in the Lisa Jones search results - or maybe start using my full legal name - Lisa Henley Jones on more stuff to help people searching for me among the sea of Lisa Jones.

As you might suspect, there are a heck of a lot of Lisa Schmidts out there in the world. Like Sarah's same name friends, many women named Lisa Schmidt tend to work their cleavage for the cameras.
